I have covered the cardio portion in part one, now for yoga and pilates! My two favorite are YOGAmazing and Pilates Center of Bend. I found both on iTunes. I love these videocasts because they have specific concentration for each “episode”. For instance, Chaz Rough of YOGAmazing will break his 20-30 minute yoga routines into areas such as “yoga for balance”, “yoga for digestion”, “yoga for PMS”, “yoga for headaches”, and so on. I think its great because if I have an issue that I want to work on or relieve (like balance or headaches), I can go to select that particular videocast. I also like Chaz because he explains modification and reinforces the importance of respecting were your “body is at the moment”. Meaning, if my legs and back are tight, then I modify the movement to adjust to what my bod is telling me.
For Pilates Center of Bend, its another break down of specific areas. The videocasts are shorter, concentrating on exercise instruction and demonstration for 3 to 5 minutes. Some examples are “arm series”, “glute series”, “hamstrings”, “shoulder stretch”, etc. Even though they are short segments, I can piece them together to make a 15-20 minute workout while including all the repetitions. I like the exercises they offer and the video production is nice too.
My overall conclusion is, a person does not have to spend much, if anything, to enhance their exercise routine. Its accessible, free (with the exception of purchasing the devises to listen/view), and its very motivational. NO EXCUSES! Thats what I love!
