I know it was really Tuesday, but when I have a Monday off from work, Tuesday always feels like a Monday. Today even was busy like a Monday. The afternoon was broken up with a team meeting. Myself and two other team mates had to give a financial planning presentation. It was our first presentation since moving into a new department/team. It went well and our recommendations were not terribly scrutinized. The first part of December we’ve been given another “project”. Yippie.
There were 5 accidents on the 101 loop and I finally got home a little after 7pm. And that was just on the southbound lanes - the way I travel to get home. Four of those five accidents were completely off the road and at least a lane’s width from cars passing. But still people had to slow down to an almost complete stop to see what was going on. The last one had the cops blocking traffic to only one lane. I hate rubbernecks and they are SO bad here in the Phoenix area.
Now I’m winding down with an interesting film on Sundance Channel called Radiant City . Its about a North American family living in a newly developed suburb community (something that we Valley residents know all so well). The main point of the film is how modern suburban communities are damaging to society by promoting isolation. Examples: we get in a car, back out of garages, drive on the freeway for an hour, park in a parking garage at work, take an elevator to our office building and work in a cubical, to then leave work, drive another hour home, pull into our garages and enter our homes with little, if any interaction with the community we live in. I tend to agree with the perspective of this film. Its sad. To me, it seems like people just want to be left alone in their carbon copy boxes. It may not be that same in all areas, but I believe it is in several. Anyway, check it out on Sundance or you can Netflix it.
After the clothes are done in the dryer, then I’ll finally get some sleep. I live such an exciting life!
Take care and talk to you tomorrow!
